Fantasia V

So. I decided to do Pixiv Fantasia V. i’m actually kinda pumped for it. I know I should be working on the comic but these sketches are coming out so much faster now. Speed boost! I need to be putting this speed toward the comic!! Off to work then.

So Fan Art, Right?

Hsien-Ko from DarkStalkers.

Yeah, It makes for quick drawings cause the design is already established and I don’t have to think. The plan was just five of my favorite video game characters. I’d be able to whip of the drawings but then the colors would take forever and then stuff for Fairy Dust and my freelance would be kinda pushed aside and I really dont wanna do that.

And then I decided to join Pixiv Fantasia V. I would rather be known for my own original art than fan art stuff. I have some other drawings in my sketch book I need to expand on. But I need people to look in my general direction and fan art’s pretty good for that. Hmmmm….and I need to be working on my comic. The deadlines comin’ up. This post can end now I’ve got more work to do.

See you later Jan.

Last month was super productive. SUPER, I SAY!!

First and foremost the Art button works! YAY! Too bad Simple Viewer hates me and the coding for my website. Booo! Once I get some more colored works I’m going to switch to a Lightbox gallery. Shoot, I may not even wait that long. I do that thing that artist do where I’m like, “guh, i hate my old stuff. Wahh.” So I wanted to create a brand new gallery. It’s taking longer than I want. And an artist with a website and no gallery; pretty pointless. So I’ll just make the damn thing, and drop old shit off as I get better. ‘Scuse my French.

Speaking of better. My writing sessions have been going pretty well. I’ve been contemplating simply writing a comic and finding another artist to draw it while I work on some other things. I write way more than I draw pages. But I guess thats just me trying to tell the best story I can. I’ve started two more short stories and their looking pretty solid, but first…

I finished the Fairy Dust One-Shot! 52 pages of ridiculous Disgruntled-Love-Powered Sentai Action! I managed to get some pretty good feedback on this one. And unlike Shonen Style, which for some reason, I couldn’t bring myself to draw…actually I could never draw it cause with awesome sports manga like Eyeshield 21 and Hajime No Ippo, not getting the credit they deserve in the states, the chances of my sports manga being picked up weren’t looking too amazing. SO ANYWAYS! Fairy Dust has a bit of everything I love about comics, a little action, a little comedy, and little bit of tenderness, and over the top power ups.

Check out some of the design works from month before last.

I have of course sketched the crap out of the characters to maximize the speed at which I put the pages together. Still need the final design on the villain though. I also need to finalize the design for Devin’s Power Ranger outfit. But all in due time. I’ve gone ahead and started the roughs for my pages, I can nit pick details of the suit a little later.

January, while incredibly stressful, has been very rewarding as well. Even working 7 days a week I managed to pull off some pretty cool stuff. I’m proud of myself really. I know that once I can actually have my time and life back, my art will only continue to increase in quality. YOSHA!!

Here’s some of my favorites sketches from the month.

This kid at work caught me sketching and wanted me to draw him. So I did.

I also finished that blasted samurai. God I hate this one. Some times when your drawing something you get to a certain point when you know things just aren’t working the way you planned. This is that. I got knee deep as was just like…God Dang, this isn’t right. So I just dragged as through the colors, and now …ugh. You don’t even get to see it. Next up.

This sketch. I’m gonna start drawing prints for my Convention Debut. I’ve already started coloring it. But the goal is to just create an image of a situation, with an original character and just make it awesome. I’ll have to try really hard for that awesome part. I’ve already started working on the colors. I’m gonna shoot for a digital speed painting for the background. It’s just a blasted wall with some blood on it after all.

I’ve never really had to draw dinosaurs before. It’s hard, study study study. Need it for Fairy Dust.

Oh hi, Fanart. I just randomly started this I wanna do fan art thing. SO I was just run through my favorite characters from Capcom, anime, and video games, comics. Just to generate so…”lookage”. I gotta get people looking at this site. I intend to color.

I’ve also stepped into the freelance world, kinda. I’m off to a terrible start. I was asked to draw a creature for a friend, he offered to pay, but I wasn’t able to keep up my end of the deal so the drawings were free. If you’ve ever sent someone an email and not actually attached the attachments…you fail. Its a terrible reason to miss a deadline. I wont let it happen again.

Look forward to watching me grow within the coming month. Pages are on the way. I’ll be getting a scanner with this years refund check, the rest will go to the loans. Posts are gonna be a little less often, and a little more meaningful. I also seriously wanna start music posts. Music moves my soul and influences my art. I’d love to start sharing that with you guys.

Lastly, I may need a new layout for the website. I just, JUST realized that my contact information isn’t anywhere on this webpage. It’s been up for over a year. #Fail. Maybe I should just ask a pro to rebuild it. Nah.

2011

2011,

I’m going to crush you.

Hi, you know me. I work a lot. No kidding. Even so, I intend to eventually make it in the artistic world. Drawing for a living is what I went to school for after all. I realize that the world doesn’t want to me to enjoy my life or live it the way I want to, being suffocated by student loans, long distance love, random bull-$#!T, and what not, and that’s fine. Being relatively unhappy doesn’t mean I have to be stressed out too. And simply admitting that makes me smile. I have no intention of letting life get to me anymore.

“Right before the sun rise, one thing is on my mind. Need to take this stress and throw it all away.” -REDLINE Day

I’ve adjusted my plans to make ends meet, much similar to how most normal people do. I’m on my way to becoming the I.T. guy to get my bills paid. It’s only a little sad, but I do what I gotta do. I’ll float on.

So here’s the plan. I’m gonna make some prints, launch my gallery, make some business cards, hit some conventions, meet some people, do some commissions, finish my 52 page one-shot, pitch it, get rejected, meet some more people, pitch it again, improve my ability as a writer and produce a deep and soul moving story, fix Tetra-Slash, increase my drawing speed, and finally find what’s really best for me and do that thing.

So yeah.

Hello 2011. My name is Spenser Anderson. I intend to kick your ass.

Sketchember 14?

If I can count right that means that this sketch is only 14, which means i missed something in the dump…

Oh right power girl. I’m cleaning it up. But man, I’m still missing a bunch of days. Gotta catch the heck up.

Any who, this is me drawing better boobies for my pervy little brother. I guess we’re in the same bout though we like what we like. I think my next FB photo will be a drawing of myself with swirly glasses. We all know that stands for. And with that…
